VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Capt'n Crabby food truck serves Maryland style crab cakes, fresh and made to order.
The owners, MJ Medlar and her husband Steve Jones, moved to Hampton Roads five years ago and brought their Baltimore roots to the area.
Their love of crab cakes and the way it's made is a point of pride for the food truck owners.
"In Maryland, we sauté, pan sear, broil, and steam. We don't fry, we don't boil so it's just a little bit different," Medlar said.
The No. 1 seller on the menu: Capt'n Crabby's authentic Maryland Jumbo Lump Crab Cake.
It's topped with Old Bay aioli, crabby sauce, homemade spicy pickle, and Utz crab chips, Jones said.
The crab cakes on the menu are a variety—there is "en fuego," "italiano," "the Texan," and more.
The food truck is located in Riverview Village off Granby Street in Norfolk.
But they also have a calendar where they make other stops at local breweries and events. Check it out here.
