VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Anchor Allie's in Virginia Beach is known for its all-American cuisine and owner and Navy veteran Allie Stephens has a story behind the premise of her restaurant.
"I wanted to combine those two things that I love so much, which was the restaurant industry and the Navy and also tribute one of my favorite generations, 1940's, 1950's, '60s vibe," said Stephens.
The staff wears red, white and blue displaying a retro vibe with a pin-up twist.
All the menu items are named after Navy nautical terms like the Hawkeye Chicken Sandwich or the Frogman Burrito and the Frigate Shrimp and Grits.
This year they just went through some major renovations expanding their Shore Drive location and customers like Justin Dennis have taken notice.
"Big expansion in this place. They knocked down the wall over here and added a bunch of new tables. The outdoor seating and in the summertime, it's nice, I can bring my family and dog and sit outside on the porch and that's cool," said Dennis.
If your looking for a place serving up the American Dream, look no further than Anchor Allie's.
With a variety of drink and food options, there is something for all!
