Wild bear pays Chesapeake and Virginia Beach a visit

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — A black bear was spotted making its way across a busy section of Chesapeake and Virginia Beach on Thursday afternoon.

The bear's appearance caught people in the area off-guard. He was first spotted on the property of Sparrow Road Intermediate School in Chesapeake. All the children were inside at the time.

The animal made its way through MacDonald Manor, crossed over Military Highway, and entered a wooded area in Virginia Beach.

No one was hurt. Police say wildlife resources expect the bear probably went back to its home.
