Here's when it will rain in Hampton Roads this week

Cloud cover will increase throughout Tuesday with a chance of isolated showers around dinnertime. Here's the weather forecast for Coastal Virginia.

NORFOLK, Va. — Spring weather has arrived in Hampton Roads as the region will see temperatures in the 70s this week, but you may want to keep your umbrella on hand.

By Tuesday afternoon, temperatures will climb to the middle to upper 70s, about 10 degrees above normal, according to 13News Now's meteorologists. But cloud cover will increase throughout the day with a chance of isolated showers around dinnertime.

Isolated rain chances continue on Wednesday morning, but temperatures will be mild with highs in the middle-to-upper 70s.

Thursday looks to be the wettest day of the week with the potential for beneficial rainfall across the area. The heaviest rain will arrive Thursday afternoon and night.

A few thunderstorms will also be possible on Thursday. A thunderstorm or two could get enough energy to become marginally severe. So, all of the viewing area, excluding the northern half of the Eastern Shore, is under a Level 1 (isolated) risk for severe weather.

The main threat with this low-end risk for severe is gusty winds up to 60 mph, but we can't rule out the chance for a brief tornado at this point. The more cloud cover we see on Thursday, the lower our severe weather threat will be.

Despite the clouds and the rain, high temperatures will still be in the lower-to-middle 70s. Showers will linger into Friday morning before clearing out later in the afternoon.

We could pick up half an inch to an inch of rain through Friday. To stay updated with what's happening outside, visit 13News Now's Weather page.
