Was there a tornado warning in Hampton Roads overnight? Here's what happened.

If you woke up to your phone going off early Friday morning, you may wonder what it was about.

NORFOLK, Va. — If you woke up to your phone going off with a weather alert early Friday morning, you may be wondering what it was about.

Around 12:45 a.m., the National Weather Service issued a tornado warning for Norfolk, Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Virginia Beach until 1:15 a.m.

According to 13News Now's meteorologists, the warning was for a storm cell with a radar-indicated rotation. But seemingly just as quickly as the warning came, it went away as the cell moved over the lower Chesapeake Bay and lost structure.
