NORFOLK, Va. — Those on the Outer Banks of North Carolina should be on standby for potential severe weather Friday night.
The National Weather Service (NWS) issued a severe thunderstorm watch spanning most of the Outer Banks and eastern North Carolina, including Beaufort, Carteret, Dare, and Hyde counties, along with the nearby coastal waters.
The watch expires at 9 p.m.
According to NWS, a watch is when severe thunderstorms are possible in and near the watch area. People should be ready to act if and when a warning is issued.
