NORFOLK, Va. — It's homecoming weekend for Hampton University and Norfolk State University (NSU). Both have games on Saturday that start at 2 p.m.
Hampton plays Elon University. NSU takes on Howard University.
For the thousands of Spartan and Pirate fans coming to catch one of the games, Saturday's forecast couldn't be much better.
Attendees may want a hoodie or jacket if they are headed out early for tailgating. For those firing up the grills and tossing the cornhole bags earlier Saturday, skies will start off mainly clear. You can expect some high thin clouds in the mix. Right now, it looks like the skies will be mostly sunny for most of the afternoon, although it could be partly sunny at times. Temperatures are going to be very comfortable. The average high for Norfolk and Hampton this time of year is about 69°.
It will be a bit cooler early Saturday morning with temps in the 50s but warming into the mid-60s by late morning. By early afternoon, temperatures should reach 70°, and afternoon temperatures will top out in the lower 70s.
The winds will be lighter early in the morning. But during the afternoon, north-northeast winds may pick up a bit. North winds should increase to around 15 mph with potential gusts of 20-23 mph possible. It shouldn't be too bad, but kickers will want to bring their A-games!
If you want to check out the action for yourself, tickets to see the Pirates start at $50. And to see the Spartans, tickets start at $30.
Go Pirates! Go Spartans! Have a great time, and don't forget your sunglasses!
