SUFFOLK, Va. — Drivers who typically travel Nansemond Parkway in Suffolk should prepare for upcoming changes that could impact their commute.

It's all part of the Nansemond Parkway/Wilroy Road Overpass project

A spokesperson for the City of Suffolk said a new segment is now connecting Nansemond Parkway to Wilroy Road. Drivers will be able to use this section as soon as Saturday, June 8.

The project's second phase will follow, which includes constructing the overpass. Due to the project, city officials warn drivers that starting Saturday the speed limit within the work zone will be reduced to 35 miles per hour.

Through the Nansemond Parkway/Wilroy Road Overpass project, city officials aim to realign the intersection by removing the existing at-grade crossing. It's slated to be complete by next summer.
