NORFOLK, Va. — A stopped train is causing traffic backups near the intersection of 25th and Church streets in Norfolk Thursday evening, city officials said.

The backup is stretching toward downtown and is affecting drivers near Interstate 264 and Ballentine Boulevard. People are encouraged to be patient and find an alternate route.

City officials didn't say how long the closure is supposed to last.
