This stretch of Route 58 in Suffolk is expected to reopen back to 3 lanes each way beginning Dec. 16.

SUFFOLK, Va. — Beginning Monday, all three lanes will gradually be reopened along east and west Route 58 in Suffolk between Bob Foeller Drive to just west of the weigh station. Currently, they have been down to one lane due to the Interchange Improvements Project from VDOT's Southeastern Public Service Authority.

Crews were scheduled to reopen the eastbound lane on Route 58 beginning overnight Monday, and are scheduled to reopen the westbound lane the following evening, weather permitting.

The shoulders of both lanes are scheduled to remain closed along the corridor until approximately summer 2026.

As construction continues, there may be intermittent overnight single-lane closures, lane shifts and occasional intermittent full closures as needed, but the public will be advised about significant traffic shifts.
