Part of I-64 eastbound in James City County reopens after crash

The person involved has serious injuries. Their condition isn't known at this time.

JAMES CITY COUNTY, Va. — All eastbound lanes of 1-64 in James City County near mile marker 227 were shut down for several miles. 

Shortly after 8:30 a.m., the lanes were reopened. 

Virginia State Police were on the scene of a major car crash with a commercial vehicle, and the person inside was trapped, according to a release. 

The person had serious injuries. He's been identified as Jamagne Ross Fife, 35. 

Fife was driving a 2015 flatbed truck that was carrying of pallets of wine when he ran off the roadway to avoid hitting a deer and then overturned. 

He was pinned in the truck and had to have fire and rescue personnel free him. He was then med flighted to receive care for his serious injuries. He's expected to live. 

The Virginia Department of Transportation was also on scene redirecting traffic.
