NORFOLK, Va. — According to VDOT, all east lanes on I-64 in Norfolk were closed due to a tractor-trailer crash Wednesday morning.
Westbound lanes were also experiencing delays. The crash happened near East Virginia Beach Boulevard ahead of the I-264 interchange. Backups extended by miles, but traffic is now flowing.
Virginia State Police (VSP) says they responded to a two-vehicle crash on I-64 Eastbound near exit 285 in Norfolk around 8:10 a.m. VSP says a tractor-trailer was changing lanes when it lost control and jackknifed into the Jersey wall. The tractor-trailer also struck another vehicle.
Both drivers were taken to the hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
The crash ruptured the tractor-trailer's fuel tank. Crews have contained and cleaned the spill. Lanes have now reopened and traffic is flowing.
The crash is under investigation.
