HRBT closures in both directions Tuesday night, VDOT encourages motorists to use MMMBT

Crews performing HRBT Expansion Project construction work have scheduled multiple closures on Tuesday starting at 11 p.m. to get up new signs over the interstate.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) announced that the  Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) will have several lane closures Tuesday night as crews perform construction work.

The closures will allow crews a part of the HRBT Expansion Project to install new signs over Interstate 64.

According to VDOT, there will be up to three full closures each lasting up to 60 minutes between 11 p.m. on March 26 and 4 a.m. on March 27. VDOT encourages drivers to instead use the Interstate 664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (MMMBT).

The backup date for the construction will be Wednesday, March 27.
