Hampton activates red-light cameras during the afternoon rush hour

The cameras are directed at motorists who are attempting to access the entrance ramps to eastbound I-64 headed toward the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

HAMPTON, Va. — Hampton has activated newly-installed red light cameras that will be used during the afternoon rush hour.

They'll catch people who blow through intersections near Interstate 64, over by Hampton University and the Mallory Street Bridge on weekdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The cameras are directed at motorists who are attempting to access the entrance ramps to eastbound I-64 headed toward the Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel.

There will be a 30-day warning period for drivers. Once that ends, violators will get a $50 fine in the mail, starting on September 1.
