NORFOLK, Va. — A person died, and two other were hurt in a two vehicle car crash Sunday afternoon in the 4000 Block of West Mercury Boulevard in Hampton, the Hampton Police Division said.
HPD said a black sedan and gold SUV collided.
Police said initial investigations revealed that the black sedan was traveling westbound on West Mercury Boulevard when the driver lost control, entered the eastbound travel lanes and struck the gold SUV.
The adult driver of the SUV and their 11-year-old passenger were seriously hurt and taken to the hospital, and the driver of the black sedan died at the scene.
The driver has been identified as Christopher Shaw, 27, of Newport News.
HPD said the investigation was ongoing.
