Man injured in shooting on I-664 in Hampton, Virginia State Police say

The shooting happened in the northbound lanes at the Aberdeen Road exit ramp.

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — A man was injured in a shooting on Interstate 664 in Hampton Wednesday afternoon, Virginia State Police (VSP) said.

The shooting happened in the northbound lanes at the Aberdeen Road exit ramp. VSP responded shortly before 12:15 p.m.

Investigators think that the victim, a 30-year-old man, was driving off the exit ramp when an unknown vehicle pulled up next to him. A person in the unknown vehicle shot at the man's vehicle, and then got away.

Medics took the man to a hospital with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening.

The exit ramp for Aberdeen Road was closed as medics transported the man, and for the investigation. It has since reopened.

VSP said it is looking for anyone who may have seen the shooting or any unusual behaviors "before, during, or after the incident occurred, or who may have witnessed the fleeing vehicle."

Anyone with information can reach out to VSP by calling 804-750-8788 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.
