Virginia Beach BMX rider places 7th in 2024 Summer Olympics

Justin Dowell, 24, scored 88.35 points in the cycling BMX freestyle men's park final Wednesday morning.

PARIS, France — Virginia Beach's Justin Dowell finished seventh in the BMX finals Wednesday, scoring 88.35 points.

Argentina's Jose Torres Gill won gold, beating out British world champ Kieran Riley.

This was the second consecutive Olympic appearance for Dowell, who is a Princess Anne High School graduate.

The 24-year-old has said he got into riding when the City of Virginia Beach built a new skate park. Now he's a winner of two world championships and is a two-time Olympian.
