Kate Douglass led the way for the 'Hoos on Wednesday in Indianapolis

NORFOLK, Va. — Kate Douglass already has one Olympic medal, a bronze in the 200 meter individual medley in Tokyo. Wednesday night she made it clear that she's coming for more hardware.

An All-American in each of her 4 years at the University of Virginia, Douglass officially qualified for Paris by winning the 100-meter freestyle at the US Olympic Team Trials. She clocked a 52.56, better than the school record she already holds.

Gretchen Walsh, already making waves at the Trials with her world record in the 100-meter butterfly, qualified for the medley team in the 100-meter freestyle with a 3rd place finish.

Douglass was back in the pool for the 200-meter breaststroke semifinals. Her 2:23.84 time sent her through to that event's finals, where she'll be joined by three other University of Virginia swimmers. Alex Walsh, Ella Nelson and Anna King will each try to win their spot on the Olympic team alongside Douglass.

In the 200-meter fly, Tess Howley qualified for the finals with a 2:08.79 time in the semifinals. While Jack Atkins will run in the 200-meter backstroke finals.

Already well represented on the team going the Games, the 'Hoos look to add more in the days to come.
