Monarchs putting the pieces together and finding success

ODU is off to an impressive start in the Sun Belt Conference. They host Liberty at home Saturday at 6pm.

NORFOLK, Va. — Things have been going smoothly so far for the Old Dominion football team. They notched a nice come from behind win over the weekend against Arkansas State in their debut in the Sun Belt Conference.

They now turn their attention in state as they play host to Liberty on Saturday at 6pm from S.B. Ballard Stadium. It'll be the 4th meeting between the two schools with the Flames leading it 2-1.

Head Coach Ricky Rahne was asked does it help having to play a team with knowledge of them. "I don't know if it helps a whole lot", he said. "They've got a bunch of different players there. Is it helpful? Yeah it is, but it's not going to be this thing where it's going to be this huge difference in the game."

Even with a 2-2 record (1-0 in the Sun Belt), Rahne feels they can do more. "We need to put a full game together". He's got a point. The Monarchs have been outscored 23-7 in the first quarter, but have outscored opponents in the third and fourth quarters by a combined 69-44.
