NORFOLK, Va. — That contagious game-day energy is still months away, but Old Dominion University football fans may have something to hold them over until the fall season begins.
Earlier this month, EA Sports dropped a teaser trailer for an all-new college football video game, College Football 25. The beloved sports franchise hasn’t seen the light of day since its last release in 2013, NCAA Football 14.
But with recent developments in rules surrounding a player’s name, image, and likeness - rules that allow them to make money off their brand while still in school - the video game is back.
After announcing every FBS school will be featured in the game when it’s released this summer, we’re getting a look and listen, at some of the Monarch submissions to EA Sports for game development.
We know ODU has submitted its fight song, Victory for Old Dominion!
13News Now also obtained images of the uniforms that will likely be featured in the game. All of them include combinations of midnight navy, Carolina blue and white. The images also include the team’s sponsor, Under Armour.
The school also submitted three helmet designs to EA Sports featuring the same colors.
Part of the package submitted also includes a photo of Ballard Stadium. The video game features detailed home stadiums for every school, so we speculate the photo will help them build the digital recreation of the Monarch’s home turf in Norfolk.
As part of new NIL rules, players who agree to have their name, image and likeness used in College Football 25 will get $600 and a free copy of the game.
