ODU suspends women's lacrosse coach for Saturday's game

A spokesperson for the school's athletic department said Walton was suspended from the game against JMU.

NORFOLK, Va. — Old Dominion University's Women's Lacrosse Coach Theresa Walton has been suspended, a spokesperson for the school's athletic department confirmed.

Walton, who has been ODU's head coach for two seasons, was suspended from Saturday's game against James Madison University (JMU), according to Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications Eric Bohannon. It's unclear when and if she will resume her position.

Bohannon would not comment on what prompted the suspension, calling it a "personnel matter."

Before coming to the Monarchs, Walton coached the first women's lacrosse team at Youngstown State University in Ohio.

She also served as the recruiting coordinator at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) in 2018 and 2019.
