Davis heads back to the ring for a fight from Florida

Kelvin Davis, the oldest of the three boxing Davis brothers from Norfolk, gets set to take on Ronnell Burnett from Plant City, Florida on March 13th.

NORFOLK, Va. — With his younger brother Keyshawn notching a recent win in Las Vegas, Nevada last week, older brother Kelvin Davis is getting set for his next shot in the ring. The Norfolk native will face Ronnell Burnett from Plant City, Florida on March 13th in a junior welterweight bout. Davis (11-0, 6 KOs) has been trying deflect critics who are wondering if he can live up to the hype of his boxing family.

"A lot of people doubted me along the journey", he said. "I just used that as fuel to my fire to keep going. Keep working hard."

Kelvin and his brothers, which also includes Olympic hopeful Keon, make up DB3 Enterprises. They're looking to add the sport of boxing to the mix for a younger generation in Hampton Roads that's coming behind them.

"In this area, a lot of kids don't know about boxing", he says. "For us to just stick with it, I just feel like it was different. A lot of people are like 'what are you running for', but now the same people that was asking us what we were running for, they're looking at us now and say 'now I see why they were running' ".
