A Norfolk native, Lefty Driesell will be part of the 2018 class of the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame. It was first reported by the Washington Post and won't be official until it is announced at the Final Four in San Antonio on Saturday.
Driesell coached four different school to NCAA tournaments.
His coaching career started at Granby High before moving on to Newport News HS. Lefty coached Davidson to the Elite 8 twice. He spent 13 years at Maryland as the Terps won two ACC championships under his watch. Driesell went on to coach JMU and Georgia State.
