NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Woodside High girls volleyball team has Donshae Walls as the center piece to their program. With her leading the charge, they've put together an impressive record over the past few years. It includes a 13-2 record this season. She's all about being apart of something bigger than herself.
"I'm just here to like lift my teammates," she said. "I want to be the senior that they're not scared of and everybody just appreciate me".
Wolverines head coach Greg Maynard considers her to have "outstanding leadership skills," and added, "she has become a great volleyball player and one of the best teammates you could ever ask for."
Walls kind of evolved into the sport. Previously she had done gymnastics at an early age, then gravitated to swimming and then softball. The Wolverines have gone as far as the state quarterfinals.
They're hoping to make another deep run, but Walls has already left an impressive legacy with the program.
"I just want to be somebody that everyone remembers as the cheerful one and showed love to everybody," she said.
