The Leishmans trying to make an "impact on real people" with their annual Begin Again Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament

Marc & Audrey Leishman holding the 9th edition of the two day event which works to save lives through sepsis and toxic shock syndrome.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — Major winners like Cam Smith and Jon Rahm. Former Major League Baseball all-stars David Wright and Ryan Zimmerman among other stars out at Virginia Beach National Golf course on Monday. They came out for the one called "Leish". Marc Leishman and his wife Audrey had a cause that was close to their hearts. It was the second day of the Begin Again Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament.

The stars came out to help support a friend, his family for something meaningful.

"The support we've gotten from friends, sponsors and volunteers has been pretty mind blowing", Leishman said.

Wright, a 7-time all-star with the Mets who's from Chesapeake added, "Leish has always been there to support. It's nice to return the favor".

Smith said, "Whenever it's a call, I answer and basically do whatever he asks me".

Nine years ago Leishman, a Virginia Beach resident, had his life change drastically.

"When Audrey was in the hospital, I was thinking of taking my boys back to Australia and try to be the best dad I could be".

His wife Audrey was diagnosed with sepsis and toxic shock syndrome. She was given a 5% chance to live.

"I still grateful to be able to have a wife and three healthy kids", he said.

Audrey beat the odds and survived, but the Leishman family's life still changed.

"The growth is beyond anything I could have ever imagined", she said. The foundation promotes education as well as financial assistance and support to families that have been affected.

"Over the last nine years we've raised over $2 million", she added.

The Leishmans connect with others going through what they lived nine years ago.

"It's really the relationships that I've created with some of the survivors that I've met throughout the years", she said. "The impact that we're making with real people. They're not numbers".

So that is why the Rahms and Wrights are there supporting the Leishmans.

"I'm glad to be out here and support a friend. Support a great cause and you know to play some terrible golf", Wright said.

The golf terrible or otherwise is just a bonus.
