BANKS COUNTY, GA
-Just two days prior to holding his annual basketball camp, Atlanta Hawks forward and former Deep Creek High School product, Mike Scott was arrested in Banks County, Georgia Thursday morning. He reportedly faces felony drug charges. The 27 year old was a passenger in a car driven by his younger brother, Antonn who is 20.
Police were attempting to pull over their car for following too close to another vehicle. Speeds reached up to 98 miles per hour before the chase stopped 2 miles later. Investigators say the two men admitted to having drugs in the car. Deputies found marijuana as well as over 10 grams of MDMA, which is similar to Ecstasy. His brother was also charged with fleeing and attempting to elude police, plus felony drug possession.
Both were booked in Banks County. The Hawks announced they are aware of the situation. Scott, who was a former standout at the University of Virginia, averaged just over the 7 points and game. Atlanta lossed to Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference finals. Scott signed a three year extension with the club last August.
