HAMPTON, Va. — Phoebus made sure to jump out of the gates early and did so in the Class 4 Region A final on Saturday. They'd score 20 points in the first quarter alone and dispensed archrival Hampton 42-0.

"It means a lot to win this region championship", said quarterback Maurikus Banks, who had four first half touchdowns for 137 yards. "We know the job's not finished. We gotta get this state championship". Banks connected with Romeir Smith for two of those scores.

The Phantoms will next play Sherando, from Stephens City in the northwest region of the state, next Saturday from Darling Stadium.

"I was excited to see us get the early lead", said head coach Jeremy Blunt. "This rivalry is a funny one. It can go either way, but then not being complacent during the ball game is key and I think our guys handled it well".

Phoebus also extended its current win streak to 47 in a row as they captured their fourth straight region title. Their defense held the Crabbers to just 43 yards of offense with Jonathan Rogers III heading the charge with a 3.5-sack performance in the win.
