Oscar Smith has eyes on a championship

The Tigers are going after their first state title since they won a spring championship (pandemic year) and fall of 2021.

CHESAPEAKE, Va. — As the saying goes today, its been a minute since Oscar Smith's football program and getting a title. They were last in the state finals when they won it all in the fall of 2021.

They're officially back now. The Tigers (16-0) will face James Madison (14-0) of Vienna in the Class 6 championship game this Saturday at 5pm from James Madison University in Harrisonburg at Bridgeforth Stadium.

Head coach Chris Scott and his squad has been close the last couple of seasons, but fell short. They understand the high standards coming from their fan base over the years.

"It's something we weren't used to doing by not being there", Scott said. "They support the guys, but like any strong advocate or strong fans, they expect to be back no matter who's hurt or who's behind center or who's blocking or who's not blocking. That's the great responsibility and the great expectations that we have at Smith and I'm just happy these guys delivered".

This will be the Tigers ninth appearance in the championship game.
