Warwick and Woodside enter today's game of the week in very different places. Warwick has been one of the best teams in Hampton Roads over the last two years and is aiming for a state championship. Woodside is rebuilding after the departure of longtime coach Danny Dotson following the 2023 season.
Warwick has a stifling defense, while Woodside has rebuilt around an experienced offensive line and emerging playmakers.
Tonight's showdown at Todd Stadium had shades of this dynamic throughout.
Woodside started with the ball but were forced to punt. That punt was blocked, setting up Warwick in scoring position. Quarterback Saeed Williams Jr found Keon Blatt for the first of Blatt's 3 touchdowns.
Woodside persevered through a hard hitting first quarter, holding the Raiders to 7 points.
Warwick took control of the game in the final 3 quarters. Julio Carrecter scored on the ground midway through the 2nd quarter and Blatt caught his second TD with under a minute to play in the half.
Warwick scored twice more in the second half for a 35-0 win to remain undefeated.
