Friday Night Huddle Recap: Week 4

The Stallions made easy work of the Falcons, Maury cruised past Dinwiddie while Bruton improved to 4-0 with their big win over Northumberland 42-12.

Green Run has finished first in the Beach District each of the last 3 seasons, establishing the Stallions as Kings of the Beach. The Cox Falcons finished second in the Beach in 2023 in coach Tyler Noe's first season. The Falcons hope to contend for what Green Run has, but they'll have to go through the Stallions to do it.

Tonight was one of those opportunities in our Game of the Week.

The Falcons, however, aren't the only ones with something to prove this season. Green Run spent the entirety of 2023 with their eyes on a playoff showdown with the Maury Commodores, one that would come with a chance to go to states. Instead the Stallions faltered to Indian River in a shocking upset, one round before the theoretical showdown with the Commodores. They come into 2024 with a heightened discipline.

That discipline would show itself early against Cox. After the Falcons started the game with a 6 minute drive, the Stallions kept them out of the end zone and off the scoreboard. K'Saan Farrar would fine Jayden Anderson for a touchdown on Green Run's first drive of the season.

Knahlij Harrell scored on a direct snap a possession later, making the score 14-0. Green Run's defensive line was dominant all night as well, shutting down the Falcons triple option offense. Anderson would score again on the next possession, the second the night for the Virginia Tech commit.

Green Run's speed would continue to be a problem for the Falcons, ending the night with a 34-0 final score. Cox moves to 3-1, with a long slate of Beach opponents still to come, while Green Run moves to 4-0 with eyes on that trip to the state tournament.
