Atlantic Shores and Catholic High School meeting at the Virginia Beach Sportsplex tonight in our Game of the Week.
Atlantic Shores has been dominant this season, 2-0 with only 6 total points given up in their opening two games. Catholic, meanwhile, is starting fresh with new head coach Mike Muehling and a very young team.
The Crusaders would actually make the first big play of the game, an acrobatic interception in the end zone by Darren Hare.
The Seahawks wouldn't take long to get going. William and Mary commit Chris Higgins returned the ensuing punt for a touchdown and followed that up with a touchdown reception one drive later. Higgins will play in the secondary in Williamsburg, but he was unstoppable with the ball in his hands tonight.
Quarterback Micah Lance would spread the ball around as the first quarter progressed. A long touchdown pass to Josh Silbey and a contested catch at the goal line from Corey Williams ensured that Shores would take a big lead.
Atlantic Shores prevails with a final score of 48-0, moving to 3-0 on the season.
Catholic showed their resolve with a drive late in the fourth quarter, nearly scoring as the clock hit zero. They fall to 0-3 but continue to develop their group of more than 20 underclassmen.
