Deep Creek's Tapp leaves 49ers to return to Commanders as defensive line coach

Darryl Tapp played 12 seasons in the NFL including one with Washington in 2013.

Chesapeake native Darryl Tapp is making a return to the nation's capital. Back in 2013, he was a player with Washington, but on Wednesday the former Deep Creek Hornet left San Francisco to become the Commanders new defensive line coach under Dan Quinn.

The 39 year old was an assistant defensive line coach for the 49ers this past season as they went to Super Bowl LVIII, but lost to the Kansas City Chiefs in overtime 25-22. Tapp, who had a stellar college career at Virginia Tech, played 12 seasons in the NFL. Besides Washington, he had stops with the Seahawks, Eagles, Lions, Saints and Buccaneers.
