GLENS FALLS, N.Y. — It was great while it lasted. In a series that saw the Admirals bolt out to a 2-0 lead, Norfolk couldn't hold off a hard charging Adirondack squad as they lost 5-1 in game 6 on Tuesday night of the Kelly Cup playoffs. Norfolk, despite the loss, outshot the Thunder 32-29.
Filip Engaras had a hat trick as the Thunder scored four unanswered goals to win the series 4-2 and move on to the Eastern Conference finals where they'll face Florida. Norfolk fell behind after a period 1-0, but managed to tie the game as Brady Fleurent slipped one to the back of the net at the 5:12 mark to make it 1-1.
Adirondack proceed to get two goals each in the second and third periods. The Admirals with plenty to be proud of as they made the playoffs for the first time as a franchise since 2014.
