ODU & Virginia Tech: Can Monarchs claim another home win or will Hokies notch 1st road victory in Norfolk?

The Hokies lead the series between the two schools, 3-2, when they clash with the Monarchs on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Norfolk.

NORFOLK, Va. — Virginia Tech (1-1) comes back across the Commonwealth the first time since 2022 to face an Old Dominion (0-2) squad chasing after its first win of the season when the two meet on Saturday at 6pm from S.B. Ballard Stadium.

It will be the sixth meeting between the two schools with the Hokies leading the series 3-2. The Monarchs lost a tough one at home last week against East Carolina 20-14.

"That's all we could ask for. We live for the big games", says ODU wide receiver Diante Vines. "Every game is a big game for us, but this is their coming to our turf. A rivalry game and we know they've got some good people over there."

The Hokies cruised to their first last week by beating Marshall at home 31-14. Head coach Brent Pry knows all too well what the Monarchs are capable of based on losses to South Carolina (23-19) and East Carolina (20-14).

"A group that has played two really good football games. Could be 2-0", he said. "They had a chance to beat both of them at the end. Good contested games".

Pry also added they'd have their hands full against the Monarchs in a game that's sold out.
