YORKTOWN, Va. — Lionsbridge FC is setting their sights for the upcoming season on getting back to where they were last year. The Lions finished the season with a 13-4-4 record before losing in the national finals.
They're experiencing a rarity that most clubs don't go through with nine of their eleven starters back for the 2024 season. The Lions have been the standard that everyone in their division is going after. Having their corps group back makes a difference.
"We're really looking to get after it", says goalkeeper Taylor Hogan. "The guys already know what we need to implement. Helps us implement it even better and we get along quickly."
Midfielder Sam Hall added, "People are constantly turning over teams. They're joining other teams", he says. "We're very fortunate. A credit to Mike (Vest who's the chairman) and to the club and the fan base."
When you're the center of attention throughout the USL like they are, head coach Chris Whalley, who enters his 7th season with the team, says embrace it.
"People are going to come for us", he says. "Enjoy that. Enjoy that people want to give us their best."
The Lions begin their season on the road on Saturday May 11th against archrival Virginia Beach United at 7pm.
