HAMPTON, Va. — The Colonial Athletic Association announced that this weekend's volleyball matches between Hampton University and Northeastern University -- scheduled for October 14 and 15 in Boston -- will not be played. They're saying it's due to "health concerns within the Hampton program."

The CAA also said that per conference policy, the matches will be counted as forfeits. Northeastern will be awarded two wins in the conference standings and Hampton will be assessed two losses. NCAA policy says the matches will be considered "no contests" so there will be no change to either team's overall record.

HU is currently 0-10 this season. The Lady Pirates have had three matches either postponed or canceled in 2023.

Hampton has been plagued with eligibility issues this year. Several athletes across multiple sports have not met NCAA eligibility requirements, athletic director Anthony Henderson announced last month.

"We have been in constant contact with the NCAA and cannot comment beyond that," he said.

Henderson added: "We are working on resolving these issues as expeditiously as possible and taking steps to ensure that we are better in the future. The majority of the affected fall student-athletes have been reinstated and already returned to compete."

The Lady Pirates' next volleyball matches will be on October 21 and 22, where they are scheduled to host UNC-Wilmington.
