Princess Anne's Ojo captures Class 5 State Player of the Year

Micah Ojo became the first freshman, girl or boy, to be named state player of the year since the Virginia High School League began selecting all-state teams in 2014.

In just her first year in high school, Princess Anne's Micah Ojo has more than lived up to the expectations of her talent. For those efforts, she got honored for it on Thursday.

The Cavaliers guard/forward was not only named to the Class 5 all-state first team, she was tabbed Player of the Year. Ojo became the first freshman, girl or boy, to win the award since the Virginia High School League began selecting all-state teams in 2014.

She averaged 18 points a game, 10 rebounds, 4 steals, and 4 blocks a game for Princess Anne this past season. Ojo's 30 point performance in the state finals help lead the Cavaliers over James River and give them their 10th state championship in the last 11 years and 14th overall.
