NORFOLK, Va. — Darren Sanderlin is officially headed back to coaching boys basketball in the Eastern District. The Norfolk native has been named the new head coach at Maury High School according to a school official.
In 22 years of coaching, Sanderlin has a 297-217 record that included 17 at his alma mater Booker T. Washington where he won a state title as a player (1985) and as a coach (2006). He takes over for Brandon Plummer, who was on that 2006 team as a player. Plummer is now an assistant coach at Elizabeth City State.
Sandlerlin has spent the past five seasons as head coach at Kempsville High School in the Beach District.
