Williamsburg Senior Softball League's new event for a good cause

The boys face off against the girls to raise money for the fight against breast cancer

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. — It started with a picture.

"We have about 14 women in the league, and we took a picture about two weeks ago. I made a comment, "what if we played together in a game!"

Jennifer Hall has been playing in the Williamsburg Senior Softball League for 4 years, during which women's participation has steadily gown. Once Jennifer suggested the girls team up, the ideas began to flow.

"I said well, we could play the men, we could do it for charity, and it is October so let's do it for breast cancer awareness," Hall remembers.

The rapid fire brainstorming session quickly became reality. The exhibition softball game will raise money for the National Breast Cancer Foundation. To be played Saturday, October 29th at Kiwanis Park in Williamsburg, all are welcome, admission is free and donations will be accepted via cash or check at the field.

It started with a picture, and the WSSL doesn't see an end in sight, hoping to make the event an annual tradition.
