Pilots trounce the Tobs 14-4

The Peninsula Pilots scored nine runs in the first two innings on just two hits against Wilson on Wednesday night.

HAMPTON, Va. — As the Peninsula Pilots celebrate their 25th year, this year's squad has been putting on an impressive show. Coming into their game Wednesday night against Wilson, they led the East Division of the Coastal Plain League with a 24-9 record and had won 11 of their last 12 games.

They didn't disappoint scoring nine runs in the first two innings on just two hits against the Tobs in route to a 14-4 win on Wednesday night at War Memorial Stadium. In the first inning alone the Pilots, with the help of the Wilson pitching staff managed three runs on no hits. The Tobs staff threw 84 pitches over just two innings.

By the home second, the Pilots opened things up with 6 runs highlighted by Ryan Dooley's 2-run homer. The James Madison Duke gave them a 9-0 advantage as he wound up with three hits. 

Henry Garcia (Louisiana Monroe) also added a homer after getting hit in the helmet by a pitch by the Tobs Andrew Simone in the home 1st. Garcia would get up on his own power and stay in the game.
