NORFOLK, Va. — It was anything but a boring on Tuesday with the Baltimore Orioles. After an initial call up on April 10th, the team's top prospect and second overall in Major League Baseball, multiple reports have infielder Jackson Holliday is heading back to Charm City.
During his second stint back with the Norfolk Tides, the 20 year old hit .271 to go with 10 HRs and 38 RBIs.
The parent club wasn't done. In an effort to sure up their starting rotation, Baltimore gave up two players that had seen time with them from the Tides. About four hours before trading deadline, the O's sent infielder Connor Norby ( .297 13 HRs) and outfielder Kyle Stowers (.240 18 HRs) to the Marlins for lefty pitcher Trevor Rogers (2-9, 4.53, IP: 105.1, WHIP: 1.53).
Rogers, 26, will join a group of starters that also added righthander Zach Eflin with the Orioles in a trade with the Rays on Friday.
Norby, 24, and Stowers, 26, have both spent time in the major leagues with Baltimore and have since improved since being sent down to Norfolk.
The Orioles have plenty of depth at their respective positions with the parent club with the likes of Heston Kjerstad and Colton Cowser. Throw in 2022 overall number one pick Jackson Holliday, currently with the Tides, who's likely the future at second base in Baltimore, and it would put Norby and Stowers on the outside looking in.
The O's also sent infielder Billy Cook to the Pirates for righthanded pitcher Patrick Reilly.
