NORFOLK, Va. — As area fans enjoy the first visit of the Savannah Bananas to Norfolk's Harbor Park, they get the chance to see two current players who spent their college years in Hampton Roads.
Former Norfolk State Spartans Danny Hosley and Brandon Crosby reunited as teammates with the Bananas for the past few months and for the first time in four years.
"It's awesome," said Crosby. "Me and Danny were together in 2020 and our season got canceled due to COVID. So it was awesome that we were able to be on the same team again."
Hosley, who was on the 2021 Spartans squad that won their first MEAC Tournament title, added, "It's just been great to link up with him again. It's such a special place here. It's been great having him here."
The two get a chance to do something that's not only different but allows them to have a new take on a game they both love.
"It's been amazing, man. It's so much fun. Being out here makes me feel like a kid again."
Hosley felt being with Savannah allowed him to openly express himself in a way he had never done with baseball
"I never thought I'd see myself on the field dancing and playing baseball," he said. "Kind of a full circle moment."
The Savannah Bananas wraps up its three-day tour on Sunday for a 1 p.m. game.
