NORFOLK, Va. — The Norfolk Tides announced on Wednesday that Buck Britton will return to manage the club in 2024. It was a special 2023 season as Britton guided the Tides to its first International League title since 1985 and also included a Triple-A championship. Norfolk finished the regular season with a 90-58 record.
As a player, he graduated from Weatherford High School in Texas. He played at Lon Morris College and at Steven F. Austin and Lubbock Christian before being drafted by the Orioles in the 35th round of the 2008 draft.
The 37 year old would go on to play seven seasons in Baltimore’s organization, including four different seasons with the Tides from 2010, 2012 – 2014. Britton then played for the Los Angeles Dodgers organization in 2015 and the Minnesota Twins organization in 2016 before retiring as a player.
Pitching coach Justin Ramsey will also return for a third season with the club. Mike Montville will begin his first year as Norfolk’s hitting coach.
