ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - A North Carolina man will serve at least three days in jail after pleading guilty to simple assault for punching a cyclist at a traffic light.
The Buncombe County District Attorney's office said in a news release Wednesday that a District Court judge gave Claude Donald Watson a 45-day suspended sentence in addition to the three-day sentence.
The plea and sentence took place on Monday.
Watson was captured on video tape getting out of his pickup truck last Sept. 27 and punching the cyclist in the face. Watson was arrested two days later.
Police say the cyclist suffered a bloody nose and a busted lip.
