Virginia Beach wants input on Salem Woods Park project

An open house on the future of the park was held Monday night at the Kempsville Recreation Center.

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The City of Virginia Beach is asking for your input on renovations coming to Salem Woods Park.

City leaders held an open house Monday night at the Kempsville Recreation Center.

“This Park has been up here for at least 20 years and as you can see some of the buildings and some of the equipment here is really outdated,” explained Salem Wood’s Park Athletic Director Clinton Cuffe.

“It’s going to bring a new look to our program so we are looking forward to it as well as our board members," said Cuffe. "We are looking forward to bringing something new to our community.”

The current plan would replace the existing baseball fields with a multipurpose field, a dog park, and wider walkways.

“We would ride our bikes, and, with the dog park coming, we would go down there with our dog and it would be great,” community member Kathy Sweeney said.

If you missed the meeting, you can submit comments online through Friday, February 15.
