VIRGINIA BEACH -- A Virginia Beach family wants to know who killed their loved one. Kyalamboka Purcell is the sister of 24-year old Gilbert McGriff, III; he was found shot in a Virginia Beach neighborhood on Sierra Drive. Purcell pleads with anyone who knows anything about her brother's death , ' If you have a heart and you live with God please do the right thing and contact the police to help us get justice on the brother who took my brother,' Purcell said.
His sister also wants to know why someone would kill her brother, 'He's not the type of person to get in these type of predicaments like I've seen on the news where people get shot because they're hanging with the wrong crowd or they gangbanging or selling drugs but he was not none of those people,' Purcell said.
Family members described McGriff as being happy go lucky, nerdy, goofy and even funny. But, now instead of hearing their loved-one's jokes they are preparing for his funeral, 'That's when it like let me know that it was really real and this is what I have to deal with for the rest of my life the fact that my brother is gone and I don't know how I'm going to do that,' Pucell said, trying to fight back tears.
But, despite the grief the family is going through, Purcell said she would not wish this type of pain even on her brother's killer, 'I hope you don't have any brothers or sisters daughters or cousins and you ever have to experience what you did to us.. :19 because you have no clue what you put my family and I pray to God you won't have to go through this, even though you hurt me I still don't want you go to through this.'
