Video shows nurse at V.A. berating veteran

The nurse said, "That's exactly what I said to you. Is there anything else that you're not clear about that I'm saying to you?"

"That's exactly what I said to you. Is there anything else that you're not clear about that I'm saying to you?"

That's what a nurse at the Frank Tejeda Veteran's Affairs clinic can be heard saying on a video posted on Facebook.

The veteran, who didn't want to be identified in the story, just wanted to get a duplicate prescription for a thyroid condition. It was supposedly delivered to his home but his estranged wife told him it was never delivered.

"I'm telling you that is confirmation that that medication was delivered to your address. Concrete proof in black and white," the nurse said as the veteran explained to her what his wife told him.

The veteran said he didn't argue or raise his voice but the nurse immediately "copped an attitude" with him.

We sent the video to the V.A. in San Antonio and they issued a statement saying:

"At South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS), our goal is to improve access, quality and customer service. As soon as STVHCS became aware of the video that was circulating, we reached out to the Veteran immediately. We apologized to the Veteran for the way that he was treated and offered to address his needs immediately. STVHCS is taking appropriate action for the employee involved. STVHCS has made it clear to every employee that rudeness and inappropriate behavior towards Veterans and their family members will not be tolerated. "

We showed the video to members of VFW Post 76 downtown and they were shocked. The veterans we spoke with say they have been going to the VA for care for 30 years and have never been treated badly.

They also felt the nurse she should have gone to the doctor and let the them talk with the vet.
