RICHMOND (AP) -- The Virginia Supreme Court on Monday will hear a former Navy SEAL trainee's claim of innocence in a 1995 abduction and murder.
Dustin Turner of Bloomington, Indiana is serving an 82-year prison term for the slaying of Jennifer Evans in Virginia Beach. Another man who also was convicted in the case now says he alone killed the 21-year-old Georgia college student.
A three-judge panel of the Virginia Court of Appeals ruled Turner should be exonerated. The full appeals court last year reversed that decision, declaring that the other man's confession failed to prove Turner wasn't also involved. Turner appealed that 8-1 ruling to the state Supreme Court.
