VIRGINIA BEACH -- Police say Kellam High School teacher has been charged with selling drugs.
Darcy Mahler, 59, was arrested Friday at her home along with two associates.
Police say they made a 'controlled delivery' of drugs to Mahler's home on Chinquapin Lane in Virginia Beach. A search of the home turned up several pounds of marijuana.
Also charged in the case were Devin King, 24, of Elon Drive, and Britney Ballard, 22, of Farmington Court.
A spokesman for the Virginia Beach school system says Mahler was a family and consumer science teacher. She has been placed on suspension without pay pending the outcome of the investigation. Mahler has been with the school system since Sept 1987.
The other two suspects are not connected with the school system, according to the spokesman.
All three suspects face charges of sale and distribution of marijuana, transporting controlled substances, and conspiracy to violate the drug control act.
Mahler and Ballard are free on bond. King is being held at the Virginia Beach jail.
