NORFOLK -- Old Dominion University linebacker Larry Alston has been dismissed from the team after being arrested Monday for an incident at an off-campus party.

ODU spokesperson Jennifer Mullen Collins said Alston was arrested by ODU Police after getting in a fight with other students at a home in the 800 block of 48th St.

Alston was charged with two counts of aggravated assault, Collins said. She believes Alston was the only person charged.

Earlier this season, Alston was suspended for two weeks due to a violation of team rules.

'We are always working with our student-athletes on making the proper choices in their daily lives. As representatives of Old Dominion we want them to be great people, great students, and great football players,' ODU Head Coach Bobby Wilder said.

'Unfortunately Larry made a poor decision that resulted in his dismissal from our team. We will continue to support and educate him so that hopefully he can turn this setback into a comeback and become a productive member of our society,' Wilder said.
